Pumps, turbines and systems

Counter-pressure Pelton turbine (GDPT)

Mode of operation
The turbine wheel revolves in a compressed air cushion which prevents the impeller being immersed in the feed water. The pressure generated in the turbine housing by a mini compressor generates a back pressure on the secondary side.

The counter-pressure Pelton turbine, a Häny AG innovation, combines the advantages of the pump turbine and those of the classic Pelton turbine, with an efficiency of up to 90%. Limited structural work required for the installation means that the investment pays for itself quickly, creating a value-adding income over many years.

The system was developed for use in existing water supplies. The advantage of this type of turbine is that the water does not need a free outlet after the turbine.  This makes it possible to integrate this machine into pipe cellars or in buildings located below the water surface.
